The Mystery of Golf

I’m not good at golf
Some people say that but they really don’t mean it. Any relatively good golfer will always say they are bad. it actually drives me crazy. I can’t stand to hear someone who can drive a ball a half mile say they are bad.

I am bad!
I don’t really know what I am doing. Most people tell me to aim at where I want the ball to go. The problem is no matter where I aim, it goes somewhere else every time.  So when someone says they are bad, I want to take them out to the golf course and prove to them that they are in fact a good golfer.

But here is the mystery
I am terrible at golf, but I love it. Some how some way every time I play, I will have one good shot. I don’t know what I did, how I stood, or which direction I was aiming. I don’t know how it happens but every game, I have one good shot.

And it is that one shot
That one shot keeps me coming back. It keeps me wanting to play more. Reality is that I will continue to lose balls in the woods, turn my shoulders the wrong way,  and pretty much stink it up. But I always have that one shot that keeps things alive.

The Mystery of Golf
The mystery is that I love  it and yet I stink at it. Call me crazy but I have the time of my life running around that golf course chasing bad shots. For some reason I absolutely love it. Call me crazy I guess.

We are unofficially officially 3-1

It is true but not official
We have played three official games and one scrimmage.

1. We won the first one because the team forfeited.
2. We lost the second one 15-0, ouch.
Oh and these first two games don’t count for the real season.
3. We won the third one, but we only played three innings.
4. We won the fourth one, because the same team forfeited again.

So I guess that means
We have started our season with a winning streak. The streak is only one, but at least we haven’t lost yet. I am keeping my head up in hopes that our next game won’t be a landslide loss.

I can’t believe it has been this long
Blogging seems to be a passing addiction. I seem to love it for a while and then abandon it completely. I have been abandoning it lately. But here we go back in the saddle again.

The Rock Softball
Tonight we play our first official game. We don’t have uniforms yet but we do have a team. I can’t tell you how excited I am to play. It seems as though I have been waiting for something like this for years. I played baseball as a kid but I was terrible. I was afraid of my own shadow, let alone catch a baseball. This is perfect for me now. They throw the ball under hand and everyone is out to have fun, what could be better :) I am such a dork.

Nothing to do
So if you have nothing to do and want to come out and see us play we usually do on Mondays and Wednesdays. I think we have a decent team and after all it is Just For Fun.

Chi Machine
THE BIG SEVEN
We just got done with a message series entitled, “The Big 7″ at thrive. The series was about asking God questions. We asked all kinds of stuff, but the last questions about God. Who is God?

A Chi Machine and Master J
We watched a short clip from “Rob & Big”, an MTV Show. It was hilarious to watch Rob and Big Black get down on the floor and let the Chi Machine work it’s magic. I was amazed that even this famous skateboarder with his own television show is in a search for a “Higher Power”.

Winterfest
We just got back from Winterfest in Knoxville, TN. There were over 17,000 students there and it was incredible. We sang songs louder, and prayed harder than we have ever done as a group. It was incredible.

Put it all together
So what does Rob & Big, Chi Machines, and Winterfest have in common? The pursuit of God. I am still amazed that the one thing man kind cannot get away from is God. We cannot stop looking for God. People come up with new things, new ideas, but it all leads back to the same idea.

One Way
There is a God.. and I am convinced, that not all ways lead to Him. We can come up with new ideas, and new thoughts, but there has to be one God, one way, or else God is this mixed up deity who let’s the mortal decide his character. If we can live how we want, believe what we want, then there is nothing to believe at all. There has to be a deity that was before us, before our thoughts, before our description. There has to be One God, One Way, One.

Psalms
The writer of Psalms makes it clear that if you pursue God you will find Him. God even makes that a promise to us. We will find him. We must seek Him. I was so proud of our teens this week. They really went after God even when the music or the preaching wasn’t coaching them.

If you seek Him you will find Him.

KAIT8 was late

After a few hours playing in the snow
I now realize that KAIT8 did not blow it, they were just really really late. We woke up this morning and were disappointed, but give a morning and part of the afternoon and it was beautiful.

Robin and Randall
They called us up and wanted to know if we could come out and play. We jumped at the chance to play around on the four wheelers. So with all four of us on our own wheeler, we played in the snow for about 2 hours. It was awesome. We got one stuck and dug a whole bunch of ruts. I think those 4wheeler junkies have something there.

So What Now?
I don’t trust KAIT8 now, I just take whatever they said and add about 12 hours to it.

Crying

Crushed Again.
Let’s make it perfectly clear, I hate the cold weather. I would rather sweat than freeze any day. However, if I cannot get away from the cold, I would at least prefer to get some fun out it. But here in Arkansas, we just get the cold and no fun.

KAIT8 Blew it!
According to our trusted home town weather woman, we should have woke up this morning to 1-3 inches of snow. Instead I woke up to nothing, not even rain, just nothing. Now I hear them in the background making more promises of snow. But I refuse to listen. I am a non-believer now. I don’t trust the weather woman anymore. Sad really.

Let’s keep this short
I have come online to point out to everyone that today is the most beautiful day we have had in like 30 million years. I am on my way outside to enjoy the weather. I am so excited about it! Talk to you later!

coin in sand

Once again I am on my way…
In just a few moments, I will pack into the Honda and drive across town. I will be on the hunt for various items in Flea Markets. I can’t tell you why I like going to these so much. I just do. So after Farville, we will head to Old Towne, then to Yesterdays, and then to Treasure Hunt. And finally we will go to Wal-Mart, for groceries, hooray.

Telling the Future
I would like to take a try at telling the future. I believe I will find ten way cool items today. I will find a really cool surfboard, some really awesome old antique thing which I will resell on ebay and some other odds and ends. We will see if I am right.

More Complaining…

summer field

Doesn’t that picture make you feel good?
I don’t know why I miss summer so much but I do. I just can’t help thinking about running through a field like this some day in the near future. I feel like a convict who has been locked up in prison for years and is finally being let out. I hear that the weather people are predicting temperatures in the 60s on Saturday. I cannot tell you how exciting that is for things to get that warm.

Complaining?
So I am not sure if I am complaining about the bad weather as much as I am thankful for the warm weather. Let us think about all the fun things you can do when it is warm.

Walking outside without a jacket, I could stop there but let’s go on…
Swimming
Camping
Hiking
Frisbee Throwing
Standing outside without shivering
Go to Walmart with the windows down
Go outside to look at the stars
Fly a Kite
Visit the Zoo
Chase Rabbits
Hunt for Moles
Have a Picnic

I could continue but the list in my mind could go on for days. So I will leave you with that list for now. I will not apoligize for my complaining. I think of it as learning to be thankful for summer heat!

Paper Cut!

Why God? Why?
I am not sure why God allows paper cuts? I mean there are worse things like severing an arm or something, but…  paper cuts have to be close to loosing a limb. I mean it is not that they hurt real bad at the time. It is more the fact that they take like 20 years to heal up.

Giving Blood
Here is another small thing that hurts like crazy. I donate platelets at the Red Cross and the whole getting stuck in both arms thing doesn’t hurt near as much as the iron test they do in the beginning. They prick your finger and that little prick can last for a day or so when both of the holes they put in my arm don’t bother me at all.

The Small Things
Watch out, sentimental talk coming…I guess it is not always the huge things that can bother us the most in life, but the small sharp pricks. Like words spoken, or looks given. Sometimes those can bother us more than the big stuff. Funny.
